Real Estate Pre-Licensing Courses

Pre-licensing is the education every state requires before you can sit for its licensing exam. The hours, the syllabus and the exam are set by the state you intend to work in, so the course you need depends entirely on where you plan to practice.

Who pre-licensing is for

Almost everyone entering real estate starts here. No prior experience or related coursework is required, and these courses assume none.

Passing the course is not the same as being licensed. You will still need to apply to the state, pass a background check, and sit the state licensing exam. The course certificate is what makes you eligible to take that exam, and most states put a time limit on how long it stays valid.

Two situations are worth checking before you enrol. If you already hold a licence in another state, mutual recognition agreements may waive some or all of the requirement. And if you are aiming for a broker licence rather than a sales associate licence, the course and the prerequisites are different, so make sure you are looking at the right one.
