What we collect

Information you give us

When you enrol in a course, we collect the information needed to register you and to report your completion: your name, email address, and any identifying information the relevant state regulator requires. When you contact us through the website, we collect your name, email address, any phone number you choose to give, and the content of your message.

Information collected automatically

We use Google Analytics to understand how the website is used. This collects information about pages visited, approximate location based on IP address, device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. This is aggregate traffic information and we do not use it to identify individual visitors.

Information about your course activity

Where a state requires it, our learning system records the time you spend in each unit of a course, your answers to assessments, and the date you complete it. This is described further below.

Course records and state reporting

This section matters more than the rest of this policy, so it is worth reading carefully.

State-approved courses are regulated. The state that approves a course sets what a school must record about each student and what it must report, and those requirements are not optional for us or for you. They typically include your identity, the time you spent in the course, your assessment results, and the date of completion. We are required to keep these records for a period set by the state, and to report completions to the relevant state body.

By enrolling in a state-approved course, you are agreeing to this recording and reporting. It is a condition of the course counting toward your licence, and a course without it would be worthless to you.

Practically, this means we cannot delete your course records on request, even though we can delete other information we hold about you. If you ask us to delete your data, we will delete everything we are permitted to delete and tell you clearly what we are required to keep.

How we use your information

  • To register you in a course and give you access to it
  • To record your progress and report completion to the relevant state body
  • To issue your certificate
  • To answer your questions and provide support
  • To send you information about your enrolment, such as access details or reminders about a deadline
  • To understand how the website is used and improve it

What we do not do

We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent or trade it. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

Who we share information with

We share information only where it is necessary:

  • State regulators. Course completions and the records described above, as required by the state that approved the course.
  • Payment processors. Payments are handled by a third-party processor. We do not store your full payment card details.
  • Service providers. Companies that provide our website hosting, learning platform, email delivery and analytics, to the extent they need access to provide those services.
  • Where the law requires it. In response to a valid legal request.

Cookies

The website uses cookies for two purposes: to make the site work (remembering your language preference, keeping you logged in) and to measure traffic through Google Analytics. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the functional ones may stop parts of the site working properly.

Your choices

You can ask us to:

  • Tell you what personal information we hold about you
  • Correct anything that is wrong
  • Delete information we are not required to keep
  • Stop sending you marketing email, which you can also do using the unsubscribe link in any such email

Write to the address provided below. We will respond within a reasonable period. As described above, course records required by a state regulator cannot be deleted, and we will tell you if that applies to your request.

Data retention

We keep course records for as long as the relevant state requires. We keep other information for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, or as long as the law requires.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold. No method of transmitting or storing data is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

Our courses are intended for adults pursuing a professional licence. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed. Material changes will be brought to your attention.
