What this course covers
The 45-hour post-licensing course is required for every new Florida sales associate before their first license renewal. It is not continuing education, and completing continuing education does not satisfy it. It is a separate, one-time requirement with a hard deadline.
Where pre-licensing prepares you to pass an exam, post-licensing prepares you to do the work. Most people arrive at this course having been licensed for a few months and having discovered that knowing license law is not the same as knowing how to find a client.
Building a business rather than waiting for one
The course opens with the part of the job nobody teaches you before you are licensed: where business actually comes from. Prospecting, sphere of influence, farming a geographic area, and the arithmetic of how many conversations produce how many transactions.
It also covers goal setting in a form that survives contact with a slow month, and the business planning that separates agents still practising in year three from those who are not.
Listing and selling
Taking a listing, pricing it, marketing it, and managing the seller through the parts that do not go to plan. On the buyer side, working with buyers efficiently, writing offers that get accepted, and handling the negotiation that follows.
This section is deliberately practical. It assumes you have a license and no system.
Financing, closing and the paperwork
How buyers actually get funded, what can derail a loan between contract and closing, and what an agent can and cannot do about it. The closing process itself, the documents involved, and the deadlines that matter.
Staying out of trouble
Escrow handling, advertising rules, disclosure obligations and fair housing come back in a working context rather than an exam one. The mistakes new licensees make are predictable, and this section is largely about the predictable ones.
Why the deadline matters
A Florida sales associate who does not complete post-licensing education before their first renewal has their license rendered null and void. Not suspended, not subject to a late fee. To practise again you would begin the licensing process from the start.
Check your renewal date now rather than later. The requirement is straightforward, but the deadline is not flexible and it catches a predictable number of new licensees every cycle.
How the course works
Fully online and self-paced. Start as soon as you enrol, study when it suits you, and pick up where you left off. Florida requires the full 45 hours, so the course tracks your time in each unit.
Completions are reported to the DBPR within five business days.
